Help Darfur Now Donates $15,000 to Doctors Without Borders - Thank You

On February 13, 2006, Help Darfur Now presented its first check for $15,000 to Doctors Without Borders at their NYC office. Pictured below are David, Eric and Arielle with Nicolas de Torrente , Executive Director of Doctors Without Borders.

The funds will be used to pay for food, medicines, and shelter for the victims of the genocide currently taking place in the Darfur region of the Sudan. Read more about Doctors Without Borders.)

The students presented Doctors Without Borders with the check on Monday, February 13 at their Manhattan office. Alyssa Herman, Director of Development for Doctors Without Borders said, “It is always great to see high school students take on an issue of this importance. Their grass roots support will enable us to help the victims in Darfur who so desperately need it.”

David, Eric and Arielle have sent out over 3,000 fundraising letters to residents of northern and central New Jersey. “People have been great about responding to our letters. Our initial goal was to raise $5,000 for the victims of the genocide and we are really happy that we have been able to surpass that goal.” His brother, David, added, “We plan to keep on going with the fundraising. The situation in Darfur is getting worse. Over 500 people die over there everyday as a result of the violence.”

Arielle, David and Eric thank everyone who made a donation. They want to visit Doctors Without Borders again soon to present them with another check and hope to be joined by members from the new chapters of Help Darfur Now. Please help by donating to Help Darfur Now.
