Help Darfur Now South Plainfield High School

The South Plainfield chapter of Help Darfur Now stared on April 28. An interested student, Steven T., and his genocide studies teacher, Ms. Flannery, invited students to get involved. The response was enthusiastic. Candy, T-shirts, pins, and bracelets were sold in homerooms, classrooms, and during lunch. Students handed out Help Darfur Now mission statements. Bulletin Boards and flyers were put up all over the school. After an article appeared in the local newspaper, Wesley Methodist Church asked the club to participate in a non-religious program about Darfur. Steven T, Amanda H, and Ryan M spoke to a very receptive audience whose generous donations were added to Help Darfur Now. The South Plainfield chapter raised over 2,500 dollars and is excitingly awaiting next year. (by Heather S.)
