Help Darfur Now: Warren Hills High School
hdn warren hills

Last spring, Warren Hills High School started a chapter of Help Darfur Now.  The school's club meets every Monday during the school's designated lunch period.  In December the chapter began selling Help Darfur Now t-shirts and bracelets, and thus far has raised well over $700.00.  The club established a Darfur bulletin board project to bring awareness about the 21st century genocide and to let students know about their Monday lunch meetings.  In addition, they developed and aired schoolwide a public service announcement (PSA) about the genocide in Darfur.

In January, the club attended a book reading/signing and film screening of "Darfur Diaries" at the Barnes & Noble and Brunswick Square Mall in East Brunswick.  In February, Dr. Jerry Erlich (pictured below), a doctor with Doctors Without Borders came to Warren Hills High School; he spoke about his experiences and solutions to end the genocide.  Dr. Erlich also provided a slideshow presentation of the refugee/IDP camps, patients, and children's drawings.

As part of Darfur Awareness Week (week of April 23-30) members of the Warren Hills chapter of Help Darfur Now participated in a series of week-long activities, including selling t-shirts/wristbands, a letter writing campaign to NJ officeholders and attending a global awareness rally in NYC.
